Blomberg Red Cross Receives New Staff Transport Vehicle

Blomberg, 4 April 2007

Just in time for the new season, the first-aid volunteers of the Blomberg Red Cross have received a new staff transport vehicle. The Volkswagen Crafter has nine seats and special signalling equipment as well as good communication equipment with several radio units and a mobile phone. Moreover, the vehicle has a big loading space and a trailer coupling. The Crafter replaces a VW Transporter which had been discarded already two years ago.

„We wanted to find a replacement for the vehicle we use most of all as soon as possible”, says Ulrich Hanselle, chairman of the Red Cross unit. „The VW Crafter will not only transport our volunteers but also to house our squad leaders and to tow our trailer.“

Aside from medical and emergency services, the first-aid volunteers use this vehicle also for other events, e.g. blood donation and the local autumn festival. The first big day for the new vehicle will be Easter fire wheel festival in Lügde. There, it will be posted on Easter Sunday as a meeting point for all emergencies great and small on the marketplace.

The Red Cross volunteers insist especially on safe driving with the big new staff transport vehicle. Several volunteers have already taken part in a driver safety training with the vehicle and a trailer.
